Rather than following a pre-determined curriculum, the pedagogy in the Early Years embraces the concept of child-led learning. It recognises that children are active participants in their own learning journey and seeks to capitalise on their innate curiosity and natural desire to explore the world around them.
The Early Years’ sector includes children from birth till the age of seven/eight. This means that childcare centres, kindergarten classes and Years 1 and 2 of the primary cycle, fall within the Early Years.
